
Background
Jenny Mueller qualified in human medicine from Free University Berlin, where she went on to complete her PhD in medicine in the department of clinical pharmacology. Jenny began working on pharmaceutical medicine in 1987 as Medical Scientific Officer at Solvay Pharma, Hanover. In 1993, she took up the same position with Allergopharma KG, Reinbek in Germany. Jenny continued to work as consultant for pharmaceutical companies, as Scientific Employee at the German regulatory authority (BfArM), as Medical Scientific Officer Clinical Trials at Conventis AG, a Contract Research Organisation, and as Head of Affairs Clinical Research/Drug Safety at the German Pharmaceutical Industry Association (BPI) in Germany until she joined the MRC. In addition, she lectured Medical background, Regulatory aspects and Pharmacovigilance (Drug Safety) in the Postgraduate Master course Clinical Trial Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Berlin in 2004 and 2005.
Within the MRC, Jenny set up the Clinical Trials Support Office (CTSO) to ensure adherence to the international standard of good clinical practice (GCP) in clinical trials conducted at MRC. Together with the Clinical Trials Monitor Vivat Thomas, she provides training for all research staff in GCP and research ethics, and both support investigators in all issues related to clinical trials. Jenny is also a member of the Scientific Coordinating Committee (SCC) and supports the administration of the SCC and the local Ethics Committee.
