Peter trained as a diagnostic radiographer in the United Kingdom working in the North of England and subsequently moved to NHS managerial roles in Leeds, Bradford, Liverpool, Harrogate and London, being awarded the 1993 Institute of Health Service Management Award. He has Executive and Board experience in the NHS, Higher Education and the development of School Academies. His roles have included Executive Director of Operations of Whipps Cross Hospital (London) and Non Executive Director of Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. He was appointed General Manager and subsequently Director at the Faculty of Medicine and Health in the University of Leeds and was instrumental in establishing the Leeds/Bradford Medical School and development of a new £100m Faculty for the University of Leeds. He has substantive experience in international health related consultancy and in 2006-7, programme managed and directed an international study on organizational performance in collaboration with 27 integrated academic health centers across four continents. He has recently been involved in establishing health related social enterprises in the United Kingdom and his move as Director of Operations for the MRC in The Gambia in November 2010, provides an opportunity to support the development of this vibrant Research Unit, which achieves local impact and international prominence.
