PhD Studentships in West Africa:  Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia.

The Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia invites applications, from African and UK citizens only, for its full-time PhD studentships in one of the project areas outlined below:

  1. Prevalence, vertical transmission and mechanisms of S.aureus resistance   induced by one oral dose of 2g of azithromycin given to women in labour.
  2. Defining the inflammatory pathway and prognostic biomarkers associated with pulmonary morbidity and long-term outcome of patients following TB therapy

The Studentships will start in January 2016, and will be full-time for four years, involving collaboration with the Medical Research Council Unit The Gambia and a European institution. Full financial support will be provided.
