About MRC The Gambia Unit
Established in The Gambia in 1947, the MRC is the UK ’s single largest investment in medical research in a developing country. The Unit’s research focuses on infectious diseases of immediate concern to The Gambia and the continent of Africa, with the aim of reducing the burden of illness and death in the country and the developing world as a whole. MenAfriVac™, a vaccine developed through the Meningitis Vaccine Project (MVP) to protect against life-threatening meningococcal meningitis
MenAfriVac™, a vaccine developed through the Meningitis Vaccine Project (MVP) to protect against life-threatening meningococcal meningitis, received prequalification from the World Health Organization (WHO) on 23rd June 2010. The action clears the way for the phased introduction of the vaccine in Africa later this year.Read more »
